Project

The Walkart project “Rediscovering the ancient pilgrimage routes between Carinthis and Friuli Venezia Giulia

The art of walking" was born from the idea of rediscovering and enhancing the ancient pilgrimage routes and their diverse natural and cultural heritage, to create a new cross-border tourist offer, sustainable and alternative to mass tourism.

The project develops two main topics, in order to facilitate fans of walking, promote slow tourism and to discover cross – border territories thanks to the ancient pilgrimages.
On the one hand, it develops structural interventions along the routes, such as signage and mapping of routes, organization of events, conferences and festivals dedicated to the cultural paths. Moreover ancient places of pilgrimage such as Pievi and Hospitalia will be enhanced and opened.
On the other hand, it develops virtual instruments that will help to discover cultural and naturalistic heritage, to know the territory in an interactive and dynamic way, to share one's walking experience and to become part of a large community of slow tourism enthusiasts.
